Governance
What to do?
-
Understand your data
You need to know where data is coming from, how reliable it is and who owns it. Data governance and strategy ensure data remains well-managed, reliable, and aligned with business goals. Strategy sets the direction and policies; governance keeps everything consistent and secure.
-
Stay agile
Do not overreach with governance. Find the spots where business really needs all that reliability, and accept some uncertainty to increase speed. Consider MVG (Minimum Viable Governance): What's the least you can do to make things work well?
-
Form Centers of Excellence
Ensure the quality of steering by collecting expertise together. Whether it is AI or Data Center of Excellence (or whatever else), loop thought leaders and process owners from across the organization together, and drive consensus to add continuity to decision making.
-
Govern your AI and apps
Rising starts in digital renewal are clearly AI, SaaS, and low-code apps. Each of these needs their own kind of governance. If you have no guardrails, you likely have no understanding of usage.
Find out what you have, then look for a minimal way to ensure your assets are protected, you know how costs are created, and personnel risks and ownership questions are understood.
