We’re proud to announce that Aleksi Partanen, Data Engineer at Norrin, has been recognized as a Microsoft Most Valuable Professional (MVP) in the Data Platform category with a focus on Microsoft Fabric.

The MVP award is Microsoft’s way of recognizing individuals who demonstrate technical expertise and share their knowledge openly and consistently with the wider tech community.

The Journey to Microsoft MVP

Aleksi’s journey with Microsoft Fabric began in 2023, when he uploaded his first tutorials to YouTube. His goal was to create high-quality videos that help people get started with Fabric and learn more about the platform, since Fabric was brand new and there was not much content available at the time.

Since then, his channel has become a trusted resource for learning Microsoft Fabric offering:

  • In-depth tutorials
  • Advanced tips and tricks
  • Real-world use cases
  • The latest platform updates

Most recently, Aleksi released a free 11-hour Fabric course to help professionals build fluency with the data platform.

“When I uploaded my first tutorials to YouTube in 2023, I never thought I would receive this award. The award itself was never my goal, but it feels very special to have this official recognition for the work I have done,” says Aleksi.

What is a Microsoft MVP?

MVP is the best known of Microsoft’s influencer programs. MVPs are recognized experts with a strong connection to the product groups. Generally, this group of about 3,500 individuals is privy to Microsoft’s roadmaps, private feature tests and open access to product developers.

Though the MVP award is personal, and Aleksi’s MVP NDA prevents him from revealing his learnings to Norrin in general, this recognition of his capability and commitment will also have side benefits for our customers.

“Having a Data Platform MVP in our ranks ensures that our Fabric understanding remains top notch. With fast evolving products like Fabric, it’s crucial that we understand the reasoning behind Microsoft’s design decisions, to make sure the advice we give is always in line with the future evolution. Even when the reasons can’t be disclosed, bad approaches can still often be ruled out.” says Jouni Heikniemi, Norrin’s Chief Service Officer.

We believe in the power of Microsoft Fabric to bring fragmented data together on a single platform. Aleksi’s work accelerates that vision for our clients as well as the entire data professionals working with Fabric.

We’re pleased to see Aleksi’s work acknowledged by Microsoft and look forward to what comes next. Congratulations, Aleksi!
