Meet Daniel Atighechi, a solution architect and a cloud-native senior data professional working from Norrin’s Stockholm office.
“I’ve never actually had to build any pipelines in an on-premise data warehouse.”, Daniel says with a laugh. Daniel Atighechi is a part of a generation who are cloud-native and for whom hybrid work was never the “new” normal, it was just normal.
“I began my career during the Covid pandemic in a company that had a significant part of its workforce residing in Southeast Asia, which meant remote work was the norm from day one”, Daniel says.
He’s also a part of the first wave of senior data professionals from that generation. As a part of a small team, he had the opportunity to learn from working closely with more experienced colleagues in Thailand and Vietnam, and take on significant responsibilities early.
That experience has been formative in Daniel’s career, and now as a tech lead and a solution architect he passes the same lessons on to junior team members.
“I was taught early the distinction between a good developer and a good consultant. The consultant role demands strong social and organizational skills, particularly in an international setting. I was also lucky to work with senior colleagues who viewed answering my many questions as an investment in efficient collaboration.”
Flying the flag for Databricks at Norrin
Daniel spent the beginning of his data engineering career at BizOne which operated in Sweden and Thailand. BizOne was acquired by Norrin in 2025, and after the acquisition, Daniel was nervous about the possibility of added bureaucracy or complexity in hierarchy, but according to him, these proved to be in vain.
“Back in the day I made a conscious choice to become a part of a small, flat organization where I could have an impact. I was slightly worried this might change as Norrin is a much larger organization. But the only change has been positive, as we now have a broader base of highly knowledgeable colleagues to interact with.”
Daniel is a goal-oriented person with clear professional ambitions at Norrin. He aims to advocate for Databricks and to grow into the strongest possible consultant in high-level data architecture and solution design.
“I’m very big on Databricks, and I’ve got the Solutions Architect Champion certificate to prove it. I want to keep advancing my expertise in the platform while helping strengthen the Databricks talent base at Norrin. Role-wise I want to keep doing what I do on an increasingly higher level.”
Strict goals for 6 days a week, nothing on Sundays
The orientation towards having goals doesn’t end at work either. Daniel has a deep commitment to fitness and aims for continuous progression on that front as well.
“Doing hard physical training helps clear the mental exhaustion that work can sometimes cause. And I find that having goals helps maintain discipline. I go to the gym 5-6 times a week, and having something to work towards gets me there day in, day out.”
A full work week and training intensely six times a week is a lot, but on Sundays Daniel tries to do as little as possible.
“Sundays are for recovery. I might train a little bit and visit my parents or something, but I also commit a large chunk of time to doing nothing. I think doing nothing is very important for recovery.”
